Pouce Coupe is part of the Peace River Regional District which is the largest regional district in British Columbia. Covering approximately 12 million hectares (46,000 square miles) the economy of the Peace River Regional District is varied. Agriculture, manufacturing, oil and gas exploration and processing, hydroelectric power generation and forestry, along with a healthy dose of tourism. The area has several coal mines and more are in exploration or developmental phases. Wind power projects are proposed in numerous areas of the Peace River Regional District. The electric generation facilities in this region provide a substantial amount of power to the Province. The Regional District provides a wide range of services in the region including planning and development, information, noxious weed control, regional and community recreation, emergency planning services, rural fire protection, solid waste management, development of rural water supplies, sewage collection and disposal, parks, building inspection, and feasibility studies for various projects.
