Business Licensing

Anybody operating a business or conducting business activity in the Village of Pouce Coupe is required to carry a business licence. Only a Village of Pouce Coupe Business Licence or Northeast B.C. Inter-Community Business Licence is an acceptable licence.

Business Licence Bylaw No. 1014, 2018 sets the guidelines for operating a business within the Village. Additional conditions for operating an Inter-Community Business Licence are set in Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw No. 993, 2017.

Village of Pouce Coupe business licences are valid for the calendar year only. Returning businesses need to pay for a new licence.

Inter-Community Licences - Northeast B.C.

The Northeast B.C. agreement enables businesses to apply for one licence that can be used in any of the following seven municipalities:

  • City of Dawson Creek
  • City of Fort St John
  • District of Chetwynd
  • District of Hudson's Hope
  • District of Taylor
  • District of Tumbler Ridge
  • Village of Pouce Coupe

Inter-Community Business Licence add-ons are available at the Village Office. For an additional $130, any Pouce Coupe business can operate within any of the municipalities listed above without the requirement to carry separate licences for each municipality.

The original northeast B.C. agreement was announced by the Province of BC on March 30, 2017. The Mobile Business Licence program is a partnership between muncipalities and is facilitated by the Province. The purpose of the program is to cut red tape and free up time and money, as business owners no longer need to purchase separate licences for each community in which they operate. Inter-Community Business Licensing simplifies the process of applying for and purchasing a business licence for mobile business owners.
