About Council Meetings

Regular Council Meetings Expand

  • be held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, and
  • begin at 7:15 pm.
  • be adjourned at 10:00 pm. on the day scheduled for the meeting unless Council resolves to proceed beyond that time in accordance with s. 28;
  • when such meeting falls on a statutory holiday, be held on the next day the Village Office is open following which is not a statutory holiday;

 

Committee of the Whole Meeting Expand

  • Be held on the second Wednesday of each month;
  • begin at 7:15 p.m.
  • Serve as an informal forum for strategic discussions, staff presentations, and detailed policy review;
  • Ensure that no formal decisions are made during COTW meetings, with all recommendations being referred to RCMs for final approval.

Special Council Meetings Expand

Special meetings are meetings scheduled outside of the regular meeting schedule. Notice of a special council meeting must be given to the public and all members of council at least 24 hours before the time of the meeting by posting the notice at the Village Office.

In Camera Portion of a Meeting Expand

Under section 90 of the BC Community Charter, municipal councils may meet in closed meeting to discuss certain subject matters, such as personal information, labour relations, law enforcement, land acquisition, and legal advice. These closed meetings are often called In Camera meetings. Council must close a meeting by resolution giving the basis which the meeting or part is to be closed.
