Legacy in Art Project

Pouce Coupe elementary school Grade 6 and 7 class painted two murals to represent Pouce Coupe for the Legacy Art Project. The Project has been established to be an annual year end collaboration between the Elementary School,  Pouce Coupe Mayor and Council and a local inspirational artist to produce the murals. Artwork was created in class the guidance of the teachers, Mr. Hecker and Mrs. Nagpal.  Wayne Lariviere, the SD59 artist in residence, and Pouce Coupe Elementary alumni was the mentor and instructor for the painting. These  breathtaking art murals are truly masterpieces from a real alliance of all parties involved. The two completed works will be installed on the boards of the Pouce Coupe Ice Rink in McNabb Park where residents and visitors can enjoy.

This project would not have been successful without the wonderful contributions of local businesses and the Pouce Coupe community. Thank you the following:

  • Dawson Co-op for the donation of all the paint to create beautiful murals.
  • Windsor Plywood for the donation of 2 boards to paint the wonder creation.
  • Village of Pouce Coupe Mayor & Council for choosing the 2 pieces of artwork from the classroom project.
  • Pouce Coupe Mayor Veach for holding a pizza party for the grades 6 and 7 class to recognize their beautiful accomplishments.
  • School District 59 for giving students the opportunity to work with artists like Wayne Lariviere and learn new techniques for an amazing outcome.

Pouce Coupe Students with Mayor Danielle Veach and local Resident Artist,  Wayne Lariviere present the work in progress.
