Village Office Park Improvements
Phase I of improvements to the Village Office Park were completed August 2026 and the park was re-opened.
This project would not have been possible without the support of some generous donors, local businesses, contractors, staff and community supporters. Their contributions have made this space a little more welcoming.

By the direction of Council, this project was completed without the use of Village tax dollars. Donations and grants toward these improvements have been crucial in getting this work done.
While this marks an important milestone, Villagers will notice that some important work remains. There are opportunities to continue enhancing the Village Office park in Phase 2 and all other Village parks.
Phase I offers inclusive play and features a train theme throughout.McNabb Park Baseball Diamond Improvements
The Village is replaced dugouts at the ball diamonds September 2026. Up North Construction Ltd. is the project contractor. Ironwolf Athletics is a major contributor and organizer of the use of the diamonds and helped identify grant opportunities for the space.
The replacements support the goals of Village Council's Five Year Improvement Plan for McNabb Park: improving park assets, encouraging recreation for all and attracting more players and tournaments to Pouce Coupe.
The project is supported by a grant of up to $26,950 from Northern Development Initiative Trust’s Recreation Infrastructure Program. The remaining funding comes from the Village’s Growing Communities Fund allocation.
Sidewalk Improvements Project 2026
Construction is underway on the Village’s 2026 Sidewalk Improvements Project.
The project includes repairing uneven sidewalks, replacing damaged concrete, removing trip hazards, and improving accessibility throughout the community. All these improvements which contributes to a more accessible and updated infrastructure.
Pedestrian-Activated Flashing Beacons
n June, the Village announced that the Province had confirmed new pedestrian-activated flashing beacons at two locations: Highway 2 at 52 Avenue and Highway 2 at 51 Street.
The Village has advocated for improvements to these intersections for years. At last fall’s Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) convention, Village representatives met with the Minister of Transportation and Transit to discuss the community’s concerns and seek direction on moving the work ahead.
For a community with steady highway traffic and students crossing each school day, these are important improvements.
The Province of British Columbia is funding the full cost of the project.
